2006년 4월 재즈감상의 달

미국은 매년 4월, 재즈를 통한 미국의 세계 문화 기여를 되뇌일 기회의 일환으로써 재즈감상의 달을 기념한다.
스미소니언 재단의 국가미국역사박물관에 의해 발족한 재즈감상의 달은 일반인들이 음악과 많은 재능있는 작곡가, 음악인과 소리에 공헌한 사람들에게 주의를 기울이게 하는 데 목표를 두고 있다.  2006년 재즈감상의 달 포스터는 미국의 유명한 화가, 르로이 니이만에 의해 그려진 듀크 엘링턴의 훌륭한 초상화를 다루었다.  듀크 엘링턴 (1899-1974)은 걸출한 재즈 작곡가이자 밴드리더, 지휘자, 작곡가, 편곡가, 반주자, 피아노 독주자 등 가장 다재다능한 미국 음악가 중의 하나이다.
